William E. Jarrett, 87, of Slippery Rock Twp., formerly of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, July 13th at Jamison Health System. Born in New Castle on August 24, 1923 he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Banks Jarrett. He married the former Jean M. Newton on November 22, 1945 and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2005. Bill and Jean owned and operated the Village Inn in Harlansburg for many years. He was a member of the Ellwood City Lions Club, the New Castle Eagles and Elks Lodges, the Mahoning New Castle Masonic Lodge, Tall Cedars New Castle Consistory and the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh. Bill is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Jarrett of Slippery Rock Township, a granddaughter, Mary Miller and a great-grandson, Matthew Miller. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Jarrett. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 16th from 6-8 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A Masonic Service will take place at 7:45 PM with Rev. Andrew Shaffer of Camp Run Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 8:00 PM.
