Wanda Elaine Bauer, 83 of Ellwood City passed away at UPMC Presbyterian on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 9:40 am. Wanda was born in Ellwood City on October 14, 1930 to the late Martin and Mary Pawol Emilko. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Bauer on January 22, 1996. They were married on February 3, 1951. A lifelong Ellwood City resident, Wanda was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School and a member of Holy Redeemer Parish. For over 40 years Wanda worked for Doctors Aaron and Milton Caplan and after their office closed at Medical Records in the Ellwood City Hospital. She was a member of the Hospital Auxilary and a former member of the Saxon Club. Wanda enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing the lottery and bingo. She also enjoyed rooting for her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Wanda is survived by her three children, Mark D. and Donna Bauer of Coraopolis, Curtis J. Bauer of Harrisburg and Beth A. and Jeff Bortell of Henrico, VA, seven grandchildren, Angela and Douglas Arndt, Jason Bauer, Elysia Bauer, Craig Bauer, Joshua Bauer, Samantha Bortell and Kelley and Justin Foster, three great granddaughters, Kira, Grace and Laila Arndt and a sister Patricia Emilko of Ontario, CA. Besides her parents and husband, Wanda was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lindgren. Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial wil be offered at Holy Redeemer Church on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10 am. Entombment will follow in St. Peter Mausoleum in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made in Wanda's name to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pgh., PA 15205.
