Vulius H. "Kenny" Kennedy, 69, of Bridge Street, Ellwood City, passed away on Sunday, March 9th at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. Born on August 4, 1944 in Philippi, WV he was the son of the late Isaac and Lily Poe Kennedy. Kenny married the former Ursula Orzechowski on February 17, 1968. He was a 1962 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Kenny worked at B&W for 22 years and later retired from Ellwood Quality Steel in 2008 as an electrician. A member of Holy Redeemer Church, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing golf and blackjack, and traveling. He coached all three of his sons in the Wur-Ell-Wayne Baseball League. He enjoyed playing fantasy sports with his sons and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Kenny also enjoyed playing with his cats, Blackie and Fluffy. Kenny is survived by his wife, Ursula, this three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Charlene Kennedy of Frisco, Tim "Skip" and Kim Kennedy of Ellport, Steven Kennedy and his fiance, Jamie Staunton of Cheyenne, WY, six grandchildren; Ann Marie and Sarah Hoyt, Abigail, Emma, Lacey and Nathan Kennedy, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Velma and Mike Adams, Cheryl Kennedy and a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Luwanna Kennedy, all of Philippi, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Kennedy. Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 13th at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Mark L. Thomas. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Full military rites will be offered by the Veteran's Honor Guard. Memorial contributions can be made in Kenny's name to either the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund or to the Ellwood City Salvation Army.
