Virginia Zapadka, 85, of Petain Street, Ellwood City passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony. Born in Ellwood City on August 28, 1929, Virginia was the daughter of the late Harry and Ann Prokovich. She married Thaddeus "Ted" Zapadka on September 15, 1951. Virginia was of the Russian Orthodox faith and she enjoyed baking and cooking. Virginia was always visiting with neighbors and friends on her front porch, especially during the festival. Virginia's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them. In addition to her husband, Ted, Virginia is survived by two daughters; Debbie (Mark) Murphy of Ellwood City, Kathy (Nick) Curcio, of Aberdeen, MD, five grandchildren: Brooke (Havyn) Skorupan, Stefanie (Tom) Gaydosz, Lauren (Shane) Christ, Kayla Curcio and Lendsey Curcio, 7 great-grandchildren, a sister, Helen Nider of Sarasota, FL and two brothers, Ron Prokovich of Ellwood City and John Prokovich of St. Louis, MO. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Maren Gaydosz. Services were private. Interment took place in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. The world lost a wonderful woman and Virginia will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
