Joan (Jaskey) Wrona, 77, of 719 Massachusetts St., Ellwood City, passed away in her resi dence on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11:40 PM after a short and courageous battle with leukemia. In her final days, she was surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Kensington, PA on September 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kowalkowski Jaskey. She married Stanley A. Wrona on October 24, 1959. Joan was a 1953 graduate of New Kensington High School and she formerly worked at Alcoa in New Kensington in the Wearever Division. She was a very active member of Holy Redeemer Parish where she served as a cantor and sang in the choir, singing for many weddings and funerals. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers of the church. Joan had performed with the Civic Light Opera in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Connoquenessing Bowling League. In addition to her husband Stanley, Joan is survived by her children, Pamela Wrona and partner David Salazar of Hawthorne, CA, Stephen and Aida Wrona of New Castle, Carolyn and Paul Sroka of Ellwood City, Suzanne and Robert Dunning of Rolesville, NC, six grandchildren; Chelsea and Carson Sroka, James (J.R.), Cory and Marissa Dunning and Stephen Wrona, a sister, Bertha Jaskey and sister-in-law, Sandra Jaskey, both of New Kensington and two brothers, Frank and Florence Jaskey of Pittsburgh and Richard and Dolly Jaskey of Cheswick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Jaskey, Sr. and a nephew, Raymond Jaskey, Jr. Friends will be received at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Thursday, December 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9th at 1:00 PM at Holy Redeemer Church. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Joan's name to the Holy Redeemer Parish Angel Fund.
