Guido Yanniello, 89, of 642 Crabapple Lane, Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, January 14th in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ellwood City Hospital. Born in Italy on November 20, 1920 he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Frances Yanniello. He retired in 1986 from Mathews Conveyor where he was the manager of Engineering. A Veteran of WWII, Guido served in the Army Air Coprs in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church, the Ellwood Sons of Italy Lodge 608 and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer who played the game since childhood. Most of all, Guido enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, the former Erma Simi, whom he married on April 14, 1943, a daughter and son-in-law, Loraine and Joseph Iovannisce of North Port, Florida, a son, Dr. Gary Yanniello of Carnegie, PA, 2 grandsons, Dean and Robert Barberio, a sister, Mary DeOtto of Ellport and a brother, Anthony Yanniello of Ellwood City. In addition to his parents, he was precedeed in death by a brother, John Yanniello. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 17th from 4-8 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 18th at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery. Contributions can be made in Mr. Yanniello's name to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
Heart felt sympathies for Erma, Loraine, and Gary. I have many fond and wonderful memories of Guido and carry them close to my heart. I'm here with my family tonight sharing some of my favorite Guido stories.
