Betty Evelyn Brown Barnett 87 formerly of Wurtemburg Cut-off Rd., Ellwood City died at 5:45 A.M. on June 18, 2009 at the residence of her daughter, Leann Ringle, 328 Knox Ave., Franklin Twp. where she had resided the past seven years. She was born on September 30, 1921 in Ellwood City to the late Harry W. & Grace Edna Webster Mattox Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William Gerald Barnett who passed away on July 10, 2005. Betty was a Lincoln High School Graduate and was affiliated with Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Counselor at various camps for many years with Mrs Fox and Mrs. Barlow. Shw was a member of Connoquenessing Archery Club, the Rambling Squares Dancing Group, the Town and Country Dancing Club under the direction of John Steckman and a pinochle card club. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Saundra Leann & Dick Ringle, a daughter-in-law, Betty Jane McKibben Barnett of Canfield, OH, a sister-in-law, Elva Vogle Brown of Ellwood City, a step-brother, Robert Raymond Mattox of Murfreesboro, TN, 6 grandchildren, Robert & Robin Cancelliere & Glenda Lee Cancelliere of Ellwood City, David Barnett of Canfield, OH, Randy & Kim Barnett of Hinesville, GA, Linda & Greg Smith of Cameron, NC and Keith & Whitney Barnett of Cleveland, OH, 8 Great Grandchildren, Megan & Cliff Meyer, Nicole & Russ Andrick, Robert "Rusty" Cancelliere all of Ellwood City, Scott, Michael & Kevin Smith of Cameron, NC, Randy, Jr. and Alexandra Barnett of Hinesville, GA, 4 great great-grand granddaughters. Also surviving are several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, David Gerald Barnett on October 14, 1992, a sister, Mary Ellen Brown Houk and 3 brothers, Clarence Floyd, Curtis Glen & William David Brown. A Memorial Service will be held for Mrs. Barnett at Knox Presbyterian Church, 449 Nicholson Ave., Ellwood City on Thursday, June 25th at 5 P.M. with Pastor Elizabeth Ann Wallace. There will be a dinner in the Haus Hall of the Church following the service. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
