Anne Chuba, 89, of Charles Street, Sharpsville passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 2:05 AM in Sharon Regional Health System. Born in Patton, PA on February 6, 1925 Anne was the daughter of the late John and Mary Kepshire Wanchik. Anne attended Patton High School. She married George Chuba on October 19, 1946 and they moved to Sharpsville in 1959. Anne was a clerk at the former A and P Store and later she enjoyed helping at her son's businesses, the Nickelodeon and Lock Stock and Barrel, both in Sharpsville. A very active and devoted member of St. John's Orthodox Church, Anne was a former member of the church choir and its Mothers and Daughters Club, serving as its president for 34 years. She enjoyed working on church dinners, card parties and pirohi sales. A 1994 recipient of the St. John's Award, Anne was recognized for her longstanding service to her church. Anne was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Known for her family dinners, homemade nutrolls and baked goods, Anne sent everyone home with a treat. She lived for her family, faith and her church. Anne is survived by her son and his wife, Edward and Kate Chuba of Sharpsville, daughters, Mary Ann Lavin and Janet wife of Chuck Kretchek, all of Hermitage, three grandchildren, Michael Chuba, Heather Chuba, Chuck Kretchek and his fiancee, Allison Lewis, two brothers, Andrew Vanchick, Joseph Wanchick, a sister in law, Helen Wanchick, all of Michigan, brother in laws Andrew and Anne Chuba of Hermitage, Steve and Joan Chuba of Sharpsville, sister in law, Helen Kachaylo of Brookfield, OH and brother in law, Steve Lysohir of Hermitage. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, George Chuba, two brothers, John and Peter Wanchik, an infant sister, Mary Wanchik and her former son in law, Terrence Lavin. Friends will be received on Tuesday, September 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tomon Funeral and Cremation Services in the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 E. State St., Sharon. A Panachida service will be held at 7:45 PM. A funeral service will be held at St. John's Orthodox Church in Hermitage on Wednesday, September 17th at 11:00 AM with Fr. David Mastroberte. Interment will follow in St. John's Orthodox Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Anne's name to either St. John's church building fund or Buhl Farm Park.

I lived across from the Chuba's" on Walnut St in Sharon until we moved to Hermitage around 1955. I hung out with Ed and always remembered the family. Also I ate many subs at Lock Stock. And I remember George had the only Henry J i ever saw. I now live in Daytona Beach FL
